To those learning about Serbian food, Cevapcici is a type of sausage or sausage link (roughly smaller than a hot dog). It has a unique taste. It is usually home-made, and it can be grilled or cooked over the stove.
Ingredients:
-1/2 lb ground beef
-1/2 lb ground italian (or pizza) sausage
-1/2 lb ground pork
-1-3 cloves of garlic
- salt and pepper
Preparation:
Mix the meats in a medium size bowl by hand. Peel the garlic and mince till very fine. Season meat with garlic, salt and pepper to your liking.
Make small links by grabing a bit of the meat between your hands and rolling it like dough. Once you have someting similar to a 1/2 hot dog, its ready.
Grilling Instructions:
Place on the grill on medium and rotate periodically until fully cooked.
Stove top:
Place on slightly oiled pan on medium heat. Flip occasionally and cook until done.
Serving Ideas:
a) Serve hot with fresh bread, and diced white onions on the side.
b) Serve between hamburger buns with sliced onions and kajmak (or substitute with sour cream)
